Membership Final Renewal Notice All CYO members NOT going on the Summer Trip must renew their memberships by submitting $15 renewal dues and an updated medical form at the 6:30 PM Monthly Meeting on Sunday, July 11, 2010. If you are not attending the meeting, then you must bring these to the Rectory beforehand. A separate medical form and renewal reminder was mailed to all members in June. All those not renewing will be deleted from the roster, mailing, and insurance lists by the end of July.

TEC RetreatsAll teens who have completed 11th grade are invited and encouraged to attend a TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) Retreat in July at the Magnificat Center. Go to www.tecneworleans.com for more information.
Cabbageball Reminders All cabbageball team members are reminded to keep track of their game schedules. At we get further into summer, and families are taking trips out of town, we lose players for final games and possible play-offs. Remember to stay in touch about absences. Also, because of multiple rain-outs, a NEW game schedule will be e-mailed and posted over the weekend of July 4th. Please note the revised schedule. 2010 Summer Trip reminders This is a reminder for everyone going on the Summer Trip to Atlanta and Chattanooga from July 14-19, 2010, that the trip is THIS MONTH! Don’t forget to check the packing list carefully! We’re looking forward to a great trip that includes Six Flags Over Georgia, CNN Studios, World of Coca Cola, the Georgia Aquarium, Braves baseball, Lookout Mountain, and Ocoee white water rafting. Everyone should be at St. Dominic Gym at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, July 14 for departure. Parents are asked to park in the school yard in order to keep Vicksburg Street clear for the busses. Adoration “Teen Hour” Reminder The Eucharistic Adoration Chapel in Aquinas Hall is open, and the CYO is committed to the 7- 8 PM hour on Wednesdays. While there are members of the Youth Board and Peer Ministry Team there each week, we strongly encourage others to stop in for any amount of time. We can all use quiet time for prayer and just to be in the Lord’s presence. We want to see YOU there! Youth Board and Peer Ministry Team members are reminded about their commitments to the weekly hour.
CYO Facebook Group Reminder St. Dominic CYO has a Facebook group for the purpose of sending CYO event reminders to members. This is a closed group and Johnny must approve all requests to join. If you are already on Facebook, send a request to join the St. Dominic CYO Facebook group.
All CYO Relay for Life Night/Service ProjectDate: Friday, July 9, 2010 – Saturday, July 10, 2010Time: Meet at St. Christopher at 8:00 PM on Friday, July 9th Pick up from St. Christopher at 6:00 AM on July 10th Place: St. Christopher Parish in Metairie Bring: special Relay permission form, $10 for registration, bottled water, a folding chair, and spending $$ for food Dress: Casual but please wear a CYO T-shirt (blue, athletic, trips –any are ok)
Relay for Life is a program of the American Cancer Society designed to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. Eighteen CYO groups from around the Archdiocese will be attending this all night event. Activities during the night include a continuous walking relay, a DJ, midnight Mass, a dance, theme hours, dunking booth, relay games and contests, and lots of food and fun. We had 40 members attend last year. This should be a great evening of community building with other parishes for a great cause. You can earn 7 hours of service at this activity.

Service for Knights of Columbus BanquetDate: Saturday, July 10, 2010Time: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Place: Knights of Columbus Hall on Vicksburg Street Dress: CYO T-shirt and khaki plants/skirt
The Knights of Columbus have asked us to help serve at their officer installation banquet. This would be similar, but on a smaller scale, to what we do in serving dinner at Supper & Substance. Because the KC’s generously allow us the use of their hall for CYO events, it is important for us to help them on this small task. You can earn 2 service hours, and space is limited to 8 members.

The meeting will include welcome activities with our new members, guest speaker and Catholic musician David Thies, and a visit from the Catholic and Protestant teens visiting from Northern Ireland in New Orleans with the Ulster Project.
Rosary for Life & Service at Chateau de Notre Dame Date: Wednesday, July 21, 2010 Time: Meet at Aquinas Hall at 11:00 AM Return to Aquinas Hall at 4:00 PM Place: Causeway Medical (Abortion) Clinic on Ridgeway in Metairie, lunch, then Chateau de Notre Dame Nursing Home in New Orleans Bring: a Rosary, permission form (blank from website)
Following up from our Rosary at the clinic during 40 Days for Life in November, we will again gather to pray the Rosary outside the abortion clinic, then have a quick lunch stop, before continuing on to visit and play BINGO with the residents at the Chateau de Notre Dame Nursing Home. You can earn two service hours at this event.

Trip to Blue Bayou Water Park: new 8th graders especially take note!
Date: Thursday, July 22, 2010 Time: Meet at St. Dominic at 8:30 AM Return to St. Dominic at 5:30 PM Place: Blue Bayou Water Park/Dixie Landing Amusement Park in Baton Rouge Cost: $38 for admission; you must bring additional money for lunch; season passes are welcome as well as “Coke can” $5 discounts; we do not have a group rate Bring: permission form, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, etc.
Our new members who couldn’t make the summer trip are especially invited to join us for a fun day at the park.
If you want to go, you must contact Johnny at info@stdominiccyo.org or 504-813-3003 by 9 PM on Tuesday, July 20th so that transportation arrangements can be made. This deadline will be enforced. There is a limit of 44 people for this activity.
Service Project at Children’s Hospital

Service Chair Molly Strain and the Youth Board have been working on our visit to the patients at Children’s Hospital, which will include performance of a puppet show for younger children and arts & crafts activities. We will have lunch beforehand.

Louisiana Plantation Tour Day
Date: Thursday, July 29, 2010 Time: Meet at Aquinas Hall at 9:00 AM Return to Aquinas Hall at 5:00 PM Place: Oak Alley and Laura Plantations between New Orleans and Baton Rouge Bring: $25 (covers admissions and lunch) and permission form Come join us as the CYO visits and enjoys lunch at Oak Alley Plantation, and then tours Laura Plantation just down the River Road.
